The Gulf Coast Harmonizers is a membership organization of singers who meet regularly to practice, perform, socialize, and have fun. We currently have over 40 singers from all walks of life, and all parts of the Cape Coral, Fort Myers, North Fort Myers, Estero, and Bonita areas. The year 2017 marks our 25th year entertaining the people of Lee County, and in recognition of the greater geographical scope both of our membership and our customers, we've chosen this year to rebrand ourselves. The Cape Chorale is now known as the Gulf Coast Harmonizers.
We Are A Performing Chorus:
The main purpose of the Gulf Coast Harmonizers is to get out and sing for our community. We sing at annual shows, a number of community events, and at annual competitions. We also perform Singing Telegrams around Valentines Day. We are available to sing at your next function or event. If you're looking for a unique musical experience to liven up your event,
In addition to sharing our music with others, another great passion of ours is learning more about the art of a capella singing. Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals and a very important component of the chorus experience. A couple of times a year we will get coaching from a visiting master in the art of barbershop where we learn many fabulous tricks of the trade.
The Gulf Coast Harmonizers belongs to the Sunshine District of the Barbershop Harmony Society. The Sunshine District sponsors two conventions each year which involve both chorus and quartet competitions. Competitions are a special time for quartets and choruses from our District to come together to sing for each other and get some constructive feedback from a panel of judges. In the spring of every year, the Gulf Coast Harmonizers participates in the Sunshine District chorus competition in Orlando, FL. The Chorus winners of this competition become the District champions for that year. There is another contest in the fall, at which quartets and choruses scoring a pre-determined level qualify to compete in the International Competition which is held in the summer in a city selected each year.
Most choruses have a number of members who form their own quartets in addition to singing with the chorus. If you join us, this is another fun activity you may really enjoy. Whether it's as part of an impromptu quartet delivering Singing Valentines, or entertaining folks at shows and special events, it's a great way to expand your horizons. The Gulf Coast Harmonizers currently is home to a number of wonderful quartets, and we are very proud of them!
The Gulf Coast Harmonizers is a chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, a non-profit organization of approximately 24,000 members in choruses and quartets, worldwide. The headquarters is in Nashville, Tennesee.
